Weight loss program FAQ
The questions people ask most about GLP-1s, insurance, pricing, and what to expect from the FitRx weight loss program.
How does the FitRx weight loss program work?
You start with a free eligibility check, then complete a health profile. A state-licensed provider reviews your history and goals and, if appropriate, builds a personalized plan across nutrition, activity, sleep, and medication. Everything is managed in the FitRx app.
Will I be prescribed a GLP-1 like Ozempic® or Wegovy®?
Not automatically. Medication is only prescribed when a licensed provider determines it's clinically appropriate for you. Some plans focus on lifestyle changes, and others may include a GLP-1 — it's a clinical decision made with your provider.
How much does the weight loss program cost?
Pricing depends on the plan your provider recommends. Brand-name GLP-1s can be as low as $25/month with insurance coverage, and compounded semaglutide starts as low as $151/month when purchased quarterly. The initial eligibility check and consultation are free.
Does insurance cover GLP-1 medications?
It depends on your specific plan. FitRx's insurance coordinators help you check your benefits and any prior-authorization steps, and work to maximize your coverage. The coverage check is free with no purchase required.
What's the difference between brand-name and compounded GLP-1s?
Brand-name medications like Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound™ are FDA-approved products from their manufacturers. Compounded medications are prepared by a compounding pharmacy and are not FDA-approved. Your provider can explain which option, if any, is right for you.
How much weight will I lose?
Results are highly individual and depend on your starting point, your plan, and lifestyle factors. FitRx is designed to support sustainable change over time rather than a quick fix, and no specific result is guaranteed.
Are there side effects?
All medications can have side effects. If a GLP-1 or other medication is part of your plan, your provider will review the potential risks and benefits with you and monitor your progress through the app.
Do I need lab work?
Baseline labs help establish your health picture so a provider can build a safe, personalized plan. Your provider will tell you what's needed for your situation.
Is the program available in my state?
FitRx is available in all 50 states and Washington, DC.
